The Great ISP Channel Rip-off

ISP CHANNEL, -formerly I.P.P.- ISN'T DOING IT'S JOB.
In fact, ISP CHANNEL almost KILLED MY DOMAIN through their incompetence.
Under the name I.P.P., back in '96, they were a nice, humble little company that offered great services and not a lot of B.S. Then they got bought out by ISP Channel, and things started going south.

First, the minor infractions. They removed the counter at the bottom of my page
WITHOUT TELLING ME AHEAD OF TIME.

Then, reports started coming in from my then-webmaster and still best-friend CAPTAIN ZORBULOD... reports that he wasn't able to get me my wavemaker orders quickly enough. At first he thought it was the demand, but over the months he had slowly escalating technical problems.

AND NEXT, Y2K.. I came home January 1 2000 to the only Y2K bug in the whole world. My stat page was giving me stats for the year 19001. They didn't even get the number of digits right!

Then things just got worse... I had trouble accessing my emails, accessing my website...and AT NO POINT did ISP CHANNEL WARN me about problems it was having. My webmaster tried to get ahold of them through tech support... long hours waiting on hold resulted in broken promises that they'd call back. Nothing.

For years, my ex-webmaster wrote all the HTML for my site, finally allowing me to write a few pages. (This after he saw my first faltering attempts at programming, and didn't want me to mess my own site up!) At some point he assumed the problems were caused by my HTML- how he didn't know. When other friends -whom, in the good old days he suggested ISP Channel to- started complaining, he knew he was mistaken. ISP Channel was falling down on the job.

Finally, I got fed up and switched to Mindspring. Things went south again... and a few calls explained why...

I Was Late with my domain payment to Network Solutions. ISP Channel was supposed to pay this, then bill me. In short, ISP channel DIDN'T EVEN SEND THE PAYMENT IN FOR MY DOMAIN! If I hadn't switched, wallys.com probably would have been a site devoted to furniture sales, or some other mundane task.

I have no gripe with Mindspring so far... save one little tiny thing that they warned me about... they have a smaller file size limitation. No sweat... if you note a lot of mp3s on my archives page, that's the reason.

So, in short, Mindspring = OK so far, ISP CHANNEL = Domain killing rip off.
