Warp Speed Design Specifications
Frieberger Class Enterprise-F
At Warp 15, the pylons must be retracted for the ship to
avoid inertial damage.
At Warp 20, two Emergency Photon Emitters are extended
from the dish (to pierce through Dark Matter), two Emergency Aelerons are unfolded from the Primary Nacelles (to reduce Cosmic Drag), and the Plasma Emitter Duct is unfurled out the back...(to pass the Starfleet Department of Transportations' yearly Plasma Check).
The ship shouldn't travel past Warp 25, but if it absolutely has to, the Secondary Hull and the Secondary Secondary Hull, are shunted (they break off).
At the Super Emergency speed of Warp 30, the primary and
secondary nacelles are shunted (they get sheared to pieces).
With the impulse engines left to give the final boost to
Warp 40, even the dish is shunted, leaving only the Bridge Pod (Blue Blur, shooting like hell toward the upper left of the picture), stranding 9/10ths of the crew, women and children included....
Of course, none of this matters, because at Warp 16, the
Inertial Dampers fail (given Prostate's Law of Infinite Acceleration), leaving a flattened, sheared, shunted, flaming ball of death, flaming through the cosmos.
Oh, well, there's always the Shatner Class, Enterprise G!
